HR2day in Darlington has been engaged by France’s largest bicycle fleet management and maintenance firm to support its expansion into the UK.
Velogik, which manages and maintains more than 60,000 fleet bicycles, was awarded its first UK contract in Glasgow, (and Scotland’s largest Cycle Hire Scheme); Glasgow Cycle Hire, seeing the creation of 25 new jobs. In France Velogik are responsible for several high profile fleets including Le Velib public bike share scheme in Paris and the La Poste delivery fleet across France.
The Darlington HR provider will support Velogik with all of its human resources functions in the UK, including recruitment and personnel management.
HR2day was approached to work with Velogik because the organisations’ managing directors are both alumni of the Goldman Sachs 10K SB programme.
Nicky Jolley, managing director of HR2day, said: “I met Nick on the Goldman Sachs programme, then worked with him at his previous firm, havebike, so I was delighted when he asked for my support in expanding Velogik into the UK.
“We’re looking forward to bringing 25 new colleagues on board, as well as any other staff joining as the business grows.”
Nick Brown, UK managing director of Velogik, said: “Having worked with HR2day before, we know how effective their work is and the benefits of using an external HR function over appointing an internal department.
“We have big plans for expanding the offering of Velogik throughout the UK, allowing businesses and local authorities to operate efficient and environmentally friendly bicycle fleets with confidence. An established HR organisation supporting us with this will be an asset.”
