The Ball is for a great cause, and all proceeds will be donated to The Great North Air Ambulance Service. It costs the Great North Air Ambulance Service around £9.3 million every year to operate, and the service is entirely funded by donations, receiving no government money.
On average, the daily operating cost is £25,200. Each emergency mission incurs costs of about £7,000, as these helicopter flights cover vast, often rural areas with specialist doctors and paramedics on board. Yearly, GNAAS responds to over 2,000 incidents, providing life-saving care across the North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria, and the Isle of Man.
