HR Administrator and Business Support Apprentice

- Salary: £17,000 per annum for the first year
About the Role
As an HR Administrator and Business Support Apprentice, you’ll play an important part in helping the team run smoothly day to day. You’ll support a range of HR activities, from maintaining employee records and preparing documents, to helping with recruitment, onboarding, and general queries.
You’ll also be involved in wider business support tasks, giving you a great understanding of how different parts of the organisation work together. No two days will be the same, and you’ll have the chance to build your confidence while developing valuable skills in organisation, communication, and attention to detail.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll learn by doing, and gain real experience, supported by colleagues who will help you grow and develop throughout your apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the HR team with everyday admin tasks
- Answering the phone to incoming calls, and communicate information to relevant team members
- Draft employee contracts, liaise with clients to ensure all information is provided, and assign to appropriate advisor
- Involvement in the management of our client’s probation reviews
- Create letters and documents using templates from our quality controlled system
- Ensuring that client files (both electronically and ‘hard copies’) comply with any data protection laws and follow a code of confidentiality
- Maintaining and updating client records as required
- Completing file audits for our clients in relation to their employee files, this will include scanning in documents and completing spreadsheets with required information
- Digitally drafting client handbooks using our online system, and assign to relevant advisor for checking and sending
- Updating client handbooks and the master handbook, as advised, and assign to the relevant HR Consultant
- Preparing client proposals and documentation for the Director as required
- Learning and maintaining knowledge of all internal systems used
- Creating client review reports ahead of meetings
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is keen to start a career in HR and is ready to learn and grow in a supportive team environment.
You don’t need previous HR experience, but you should be organised, reliable, and willing to learn a variety of tasks. As this is a people-focused role, you should feel comfortable communicating with others and enjoy working as part of a team.
We’ll also be looking for someone with:
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Comfortable working as part of a small, supportive team
- A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your workload
- Strong attention to detail
- Confidence to ask questions and seek support when needed
- A professional and respectful approach, especially when handling confidential information
- Good IT skills, including email and Microsoft Office

We’d especially love to hear from someone who is approachable, willing to get involved, and enjoys building positive working relationships with both colleagues and clients.
Good to have:
- A‑levels (or equivalent Level 3 qualifications).
- Full UK driving licence preferred but not essential.

Apprenticeship Framework
This role is designed to support an apprenticeship in business/HR. The successful candidate will need to be enrolled on, or willing to enrol onto, a relevant apprenticeship programme with a college or training provider alongside their role. Full support will be given throughout.
As part of your employment you will be required to complete Apprenticeship Standards + EPA
The apprenticeship will last for 12 – 18 months dependent upon your course duration.
